About the Congress

The motto of our congress is “Gate To New Worlds”. Just as the port of Hamburg served in the 19th century as one of the world’s largest overseas ports as a hub to reach various places in the world, we want to use the gathering of numerous medical students from different countries again to build bridges between countries and to enable friendships and cooperation. At our last congress in Granada, Spain, there were participants from over 40 different countries. There are now over 50 different national Dandy Clubs worldwide and the network is constantly growing. Our goal is to enable all interested medical students, regardless of their background, to participate in this network and influence the future of neurosurgery. In addition to networking, mentoring and educational lectures play a major role in our congresses. This is to support students on their path to becoming neurosurgeons and to give them all the opportunity to gain insight. The congress is planned and organized by medical students and so they get the chance to shape and form the congress. An international committee of neurosurgeons is available to give advice. It is important to us that all participants have a good time and we try to make this possible with a lot of heart and soul.

The Logo

The Logo contains two main characteristics that we want to emphasize with this year’s congress.

The first is represented by the Elbphilharmonie, which is a concert hall located in Hamburg, Germany, situated on the banks of the River Elbe. It was opened in 2017 and features a striking glass façade on top of an old warehouse, and is considered a modern architectural masterpiece. The concert hall inside is known for its exceptional acoustics and hosts a variety of performances, from classical music to contemporary. It quickly become a cultural landmark in Hamburg and a must-see for visitors to the city.
The second is represented by the brain, that is the main element of the Walter E. Dandy Neurosurgical Society’s logo, we have implemented it again within the congress logo. Since our motto is “Gate To New Worlds” indicating the focus on innovation and promising techniques of neurosurgery, the design team has taken the chance to modify the original brain to make it fit more according to the motto.

As for the colours, the design team has decided to go with something that represents the character of the city: Strong, bold, rough, yet elegant and with a touch of colourfulness. These attributes are represented by both the dark blue and the darker red, which serves as the
