The Dandy Medal is the highest honor the Society bestows upon a neurosurgeon. We are opening the nomination process for the Dandy 2018 Medal. The guidelines that the Dandy Medal Nominating Committee will use to select the medalist are as follows:
- Mastery within a discipline of neurosurgery.
- Seminal scholarly work within that discipline of neurosurgery.
- Mentorship of a whole generation of neurosurgeons.
The Dandy Medal Nominating Committee receives nominations from neurosurgical societies worldwide, and we also encourage individual neurosurgeons to nominate their mentors. The chosen medalist’s mastery is based on attestations by his or her peers within the said discipline. The Committee, through review of the nominees’ publications, judges pioneering scholarly work. The mentorship is substantiated by attestations made by the trainees of the nominee.
The official Medal Ceremony will be held at the 7th Annual Dandy Meeting in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, October 12-14, 2018.
